Miles and Miles

These last few days we did some traveling. We drove to Layton on Sunday for a family birthday party and to eat turkey. We drove up to Layton again on Monday to go swimming with Gwen's cousins at the fitness center. While we were there we actually ran into some of Jonathan's cousins - go figure. Then yesterday we decided that we needed to put more miles on the car and drove up to Preston, Idaho to see Grandma and Grandpa Thompson.

Gwen was not to keen on sitting in her carseat for the 2 hours it took to get there. We had to stop once on the way up to change her diaper and give her a break. Once there we toured Grandpa's workshop in progress. They were in the middle of getting it insulated so everything was pretty messy. Gwen loved meeting their yellow lab puppy, Lady. She loves doggies and didn't even mind having the puppy chew on her fingers. We went to lunch with Grandma and Gwen got her own ice cream cone.
After lunch we went with Grandma to her work at Pepperidge Farm where she packs cookies. We bought pounds of yummy cookies and goldfish crackers. We're set for life now. Grandma had to work so we said goodbye and went on our way back home. We made it to the WalMart in Logan before we had to stop for Gwen again. It was her nap time but she was having a hard time falling asleep in the car. We took a break and walked around the store and bought Gwen a birthday present with some money that Grandma had given us for her. Gwen was able to fall asleep after that and I was having such a nice time driving that I decided to take some of the back roads back toward Salt Lake. We got to see some of the little towns like Benson and Mantua that way. Gwen woke up once we hit North Ogden so we stopped for dinner at a McDonalds in Bountiful. She was more interested in watching the other little kids play in the play area then eating her dinner. We made it home 10 hours after we had left that morning. Jonathan put together the present for Gwen and we let her play with it. Yay for Gwen's first birthday present. It's a giraffe that she can sit on and ride. She loves it, can you tell?

What a cute Giraffe. Gwen looks like she is having a blast. Lucky for you getting the cookies :)

Sounds like quite the trip! We'll be making our way up to Idaho in the not too far future ourselves.

(P.S. Thanks for linking RealLife! That comic is hilarious!)
